  Canyon Overlook: one mile, a drive-up hike past the tunnel

  One mile, an hour, and a view down the whole switchbacked canyon. Its highway reopened on 9 October 2026 after a rockfall closed it to through traffic.

  Three linked trails off shuttle stop 5, from a paved half hour to a steep 2.2 miles. The waterfalls are seasonal and nobody tells you that first.

  Watchman Trail: closed for repairs, 3.3 miles from the Visitor Center

  Closed pending repairs as of 16 October 2026. When it reopens: 3.3 miles and 368 ft from the Visitor Center, no shuttle, no permit.

  Angels Landing hike 2026: the chains, Scout Lookout, permit

  5.4 miles, 1,488 feet, and a half-mile of chains along a fin with drops on both sides. The permit covers the last part, not the rest.

  Observation Point via East Mesa: 6.8 miles, no permit

  A higher view than Angels Landing, no permit, and no chains. The old route is closed and most sites still say the hike is — it is not.

  Two routes, one permit, two lotteries and a $10 per person fee. No guide may take you, and the permit is only issued in person at the Wilderness Desk.

  The Narrows without a permit: 150 CFS, gear, Big Spring

  No permit, no trail. You walk up the Virgin River between thousand-foot walls until you have had enough, then walk back. Closes above 150 CFS.

  The Narrows top-down: 16 miles, permit, the 120 CFS limit

  A 16-mile through-hike with a permit, and a closure threshold of 120 CFS rather than the 150 everyone quotes. The Park Service publishes both numbers.

Nothing matches all of those at once. Try dropping one filter - in a canyon this narrow, most trade-offs are real.
