Why this exists
Search for almost anything bookable on St. John and the entire first page is companies selling you that thing. Search for a beach and you'll find pages written years ago quoting fares that have since changed. We checked: on one recent search for ferry information, four separate pages quoted four different prices.
That's the gap. Not more content — current content, and comparisons written by someone who isn't also the one selling the boat trip.
How we make money, plainly
Some links on this site are affiliate links, and they are labeled where they appear. If you book through one, Viator pays us a commission out of what they already charge. It costs you nothing extra, and it is the only way this site earns anything.
That started on 17 September 2026. Before then this page said nothing here earned us anything, which was true at the time and promised to change before the first link went live. It has, so it did. Roughly 8% of a completed booking, paid after the trip actually happens — the full arrangement, including where Viator costs you more than booking direct, is on the disclosure page.
What will not change: no placement fees, no sponsored rankings, no "featured partner" slots.
This matters more than it sounds. Because we don't sell tours ourselves and nobody pays to appear here, we can say plainly that a cheaper option exists, that a tour leaves from the wrong island, or that the shuttle you can't book through us is the better deal. Several St. John operators aren't on any booking platform we work with. We still recommend them when they're the right answer, and we say when we earn nothing from doing so.
What we promise
- Every page shows when we last checked it. If it's old, we say so.
- Every page lists real drawbacks, not just highlights.
- We tell you which island a tour actually departs from.
- We don't publish a page until it's genuinely useful.
What we're not
We're not a tour operator, a villa manager, or a booking agent. We don't take reservations and we can't change yours. Conditions on St. John change fast - closures, parking, sargassum, schedules — so treat everything here as accurate on the date shown and worth re-checking before you rely on it.
Getting in touch
Found something out of date? Tell us. A price that moved, a beach that closed, a shuttle that stopped running — that's the most useful email we can get, and we'd rather hear it from you than have a reader find it the hard way. We'll check it, fix it, and change the date on the page.
Operators: if we've got something wrong about your business, say so and we'll correct it. What we won't do is take payment to change a ranking or remove a drawback.
